It seems that the first-person horror genre is far from dying: through its official blog, PlayStation presented Abandoned, a game with horror and survival atmospheres developed by the Dutch Blue Box Game Studios.
The game was introduced by the head of the studio Hasan Kahmaran |, who described Abandoned as a first-person survival horror fps set in an open-world in which we will have to survive the hostile environment and the lack of resources, all obviously with a realistic approach.
Here is the game trailer:
The story is all about Jason Longfield, who wakes up in a strange forest without remembering the reason for his arrival in the place. But he knows he's been kidnapped and brought here for an obscure purpose (the trailer talks about religious beliefs: be it a sect?).
What does this premise mean? Simple, that good Jason will have to run away and escape the attackers, and we with him.
The game appears to support all of PS5's signature technology, starting with features of DualSense and resolution at 60 fps in 4K. The gaming experience feels very intense, with the player tasked with managing the performance of a character who will get tired while running and who will therefore be less accurate in shooting with a pistol.
Abandoned appears on the scene with an elegant packaging and a gaunt and enigmatic setting like so many classics of its genre, but its native birth on PlayStation 5 could lead to an excellent exploitation of the features of the Sony console.
Will he be able to write a new page in the history of the genre?
To find out we will have to wait until the end of 2021, when the release is scheduled.
