A Lovecraftian classic could be resurrected very soon, thanks to mods

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth is a game in its own way legendary: designed to be the perfect Lovecraftian-themed horror game, backed by an inspired, paraliterary storyline and close collaborations with Chaosium and the RPG line of The Call of Cthulhu, Headfirst's title sank like a stone on its initial release due to some serious technical issues. But as Lovecraft said, he is not dead that he can eternally wait, and like the Great Cthulhu perhaps Dark Corners will also have a chance for resurrection. The sucklead user has indeed given birth to DCoTEPatch, an extension that allows the game to Vortex, the Mod Manager of Nexus Mods and therefore to install user mods.

    Ah, good old Innsmouth!

This means that this 15 year old game can finally support all those improvements and refinements that perhaps at the time could have given him a less lame existence.

Now Dark Corners of the Earth also has a page su NexusMods, although so far it only hosts a couple of graphical updates: Creepy HDR ReShade and a 5,5GB texture pack called Sharp Corners of the Earth.

Released in 2005 and produced by Bethesda and 2K Games, Dark Corners of The Earth is an official Call of Cthulhu game that, net of its problems (just take a look at one of the many long-plays on YouTube to understand how obsolete it was - even graphically - already in its time), has gone down in history for its ability to adapt The Innsmouth Mask, one of the most evocative and essential tales of Howard Phillips Lovecraft and of the Cthulhu Cycle.

Notably, Dark Corners of the Earth remains memorable for sequences like the getaway from Innsmouth hotel and the arrival of the Great Dagon, beautiful transpositions of topical elements from Lovecraftian mythology.

Now, thanks to sucklead's hard work, perhaps the game will enable many players who love Providence Solitaire to enjoy it to the fullest.
