EVER MORE SOFT, EVER MORE HARD
For those who are never tired of hitting hard, Tecmo Koei offers yet another edition of Dead Or Alive 5 called, who knows if it will be true, Last Round. In fact, the original title was released in 2012 and then underwent numerous changes and modifications in the two "remakes" baked in recent years, the Plus version for Ps Vita and the Ultimate version for PS3 and X360, which include most of the DLCs released. for the game. This Last Round instead is the first title to land, as well as on the old-gen, also on the new generation of consoles thanks to a substantial graphic implementation that now allows the game to show off a native resolution in 1080p and a frame rate of 60. Hz.
The rendering of the characters but above all of the soft wrestlers has never been so perfect: with the new graphic engine, called Yawaraka Engine or Softness Engine which is based on the visual realism of the skin, it was possible to make the movements of the buttocks and breasts of the numerous girls in the game thus satisfying the most demanding players, in terms of sizes, who could not wait to feel… .emh to test all the potential of the fighters!
However, the characters were not the only ones to undergo graphic upgrades, the power of PS4 and Xbox One has allowed a new rendering of the arenas that are now brighter, colorful and alive thanks also to the inclusion of a pattern of details that enrich. the visual experience.
While leaving the polygonal models unaltered, which are the same as the old editions of the title, the developers have succeeded in perfecting the technical sector of the game by fluidizing even more the actions of the characters and pushing DOA 5 to the maximum with the power of the Next-Gen and of the greatest champions who are ready to perform in a shower of fan service!
THE FIFTH DOA IS AT THE DOORS
Where were we? Unfortunately, most of the time, in the fighting game genre, you risk not giving much weight to the plot that often remains just a background to everything else, a sort of pretext to kick off the blows of mind. Even this Dead Or Alive, even if trying, makes no difference and resumes right where the fourth chapter left us, that is after the explosion of the 999-storey Tritorre, the main headquarters of DOATEC. Helena Douglas is saved by Zack just before being engulfed in the flames of the tower and tries to rebuild her empire from the luxury ship Freedom Survivor by organizing, look, the fifth DOA tournament to advertise her reborn company. . Meanwhile, the Ninja clan formed by HAYATE, AYANE, HAYABUSA and KASUMI, who in the past had attacked the Tritorre to stop Donovan's plans to clone fighters / weapons, is looking for the clones who survived the explosion that are a real danger to all humanity. The stories of the other characters remain, as always, a side dish:
we have the clumsy ZACK intent on faithfully serving Helena together with the soldier BAYMAN tormented by the wounds of the past, the boxer MILA who wants to meet BASS ARMSTRONG his lifelong idol but who is busy working on the oil station of the grumpy RIG and "taking care" of the daughter TINA, intent on participating again in the DOA for her continuous desire for success, HITOMI and LEIFANG who after making friends in the fourth chapter are now inseparable and in continuous training to win the tournament and meet the beloved JANN LEE, the always drunk BRAD WONG instead embarked on a training journey with ELIOT to teach him the true meaning of strength. The story of the game is told by having the player impersonate a different fighter every 5 fights, interspersed with cut-scenes that are often repeated when encountering a previously played character. The DOA ending was therefore written by the writers who have already chosen the winners, the player will only be able to passively witness the tortuous journey of each character by facing many stories that go to compose a bigger one instead of changing it from pg to pg as happens in the classic fighting games.
Nothing prominent in the plot, even the guest characters who come from VIRTUA FIGHTER seem to have come to take a walk at the DOA and add kicks and punches to the already full-bodied rooster of fighters that in LAST ROUND reaches 34 characters thanks to the arrival of 2 new fighters:
RAIDOU and HONOKA.
The first is an old boss and playable character in DOA and DOA Dimensions killed by an explosion in the clash with the ninja Kasumi at the end of the first DOA, but his body was brought back to life by the criminal organization MIST with the graft of robotic parts. The second is instead a very young and, incredibly, already larger student with pink hair who recalls the world of Japanese idols.
Raidou has a very powerful combo compartment based on stun attacks and capable of landing the opponent in a few shots which are however rather slow.
Honoka is instead the mash up character of this chapter, fast and practical, it allows you to chain the fighting styles of multiple fighters alternating them with dodges and counter moves.
The arenas have also increased in number and now reach almost 30 scenarios between multiple versions of the same level and the new additions, real remakes of scenarios of the past: THE CRIMSON, already seen in Dead or Alive 2, and THE DANGER ZONE, which appeared in Dead or Alive instead. The Crimson is a seedy city alley, where dirt fills every corner and neon signs are ready to explode with blows. This level is also available in two versions, the first allows you to start the fight on the roof of one of the buildings adjacent to the alley. The Danger Zone is instead formed by a dangerous grid in place of the floor which, at alternating moments, triggers explosive and electric traps.
In this arena it is possible to push the opponent endless times out of the ring because there is always a new Danger Zone waiting for us after the fall.
Unfortunately it was not possible for us to carry out the online test (which we remember requires Playstation Plus on PS4) due to the desolate servers waiting for the players who will be able to get their hands on the title only tomorrow. However, we trust that the optimization and stability work of the servers seen in the old versions has also been maintained in this next-gen edition.
Finally, no news regarding the game modes, which remain the same seen in previous versions, or the classic fighting games: History, Arcade, Versus, Online and the Extras section that will allow us to collect costumes, scores, titles and many videos of busty wrestlers!
YOU NEVER END TO BUY
DOA 5 is a title that has improved from year to year with a monstrous amount of DLC in continuous release.
Last Round is ready to contain all these additions and more: with 34 playable characters, over 300 costumes, among the available and those to be unlocked in game, and the new gadgets with which to customize your fighters (glasses, hats, scarves, hairstyles and much more), there is so much material to be envied by anyone especially given the reduced price of the game but Tecmo Koei is not yet convinced that she has squeezed her product to the maximum, that's why with the release of the game she will make available a season pass packed with additional content that will cost twice as much as the title itself!
For players who have already purchased hundreds of content, hoping to see the fighters dressed less and less, don't worry, at the beginning of the game you can restore all your old purchases thanks to a practical option shown by some introductory messages .
FINAL COMMENT
If previously DOA used the "sexy factor" as an accessory variable within an innovative fighting game, made up of numerous fighters and interactive arenas, now this factor is one of the constant potentialities of the game and I'm sure that a large portion of the players are more of it. how happy. Last Round is the perfect Dead Or Alive 5, with a revised and enhanced graphics engine that gives the beautiful female fighters a soft fluidity capable of making even the less hard-core players go blind.
The immense amount of content and the addition of other characters and arenas, only confirm the excellent work of the developers who now know very well how to shape the potential of the title.
Tecmo Koei jumped at the opportunity and threw itself into the poor next-gen fighting market with a game that will hardly find major rivals until the arrival of the new Tekken 7.
Dead or Alive 5 Last Round is in fact the best fighting title that you will find on the new generation of home consoles, a must purchase for all those who love this genre to give up only if you have purchased the numerous versions released previously!
