Bethesda e Id Software have announced that DOOM Eternal will make the "leap" to the next generation of consoles and will therefore be made available as free update on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X for those who own it already on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
For now, it hasn't been disclosed when DOOM Eternal will arrive on the new platforms. Bethesda hasn't made any hints on what enhancements will be added to the title or if there will be exclusive content. She merely added that the new information will be shared "in the coming weeks and months".
The only concrete information, besides the free update of course, will be that DOOM Eternal will support the backward compatibility. So far the list of titles that will actually be backward compatible with the new consoles is still pretty sparse so it's nice to know that a title of this caliber will finally benefit from the functionality.
For those who haven't played DOOM Eternal yet or are planning to play the demonic shooter again, this is really great news.
We remind you that the game (here our dedicated page where you can take a look at reviews, specials and guides) is currently available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Also, starting tomorrow, Bethesda will hold a digitally named event QuakeCon at Home during which he will make announcements and show something about new projects.
