It is time for changes for the digital video game distribution and management services under the ownership of EA. Just a month ago Electronic Arts PC titles are migrated from Origin to Steam, but now the triple A company is thinking about a whole rebranding of its formula with a new app called EA Desktop.
According to a report from VentureBeat, Electronic Arts is preparing this change of course for power up EA Play, a subscription service that already replaced Origin Access a month ago. Origin's new replacement app is literally referred to by its employees as "the next-gen platform for PC gaming".
EA Desktop will grant access to EA Play with a subscription from € 5 per month, Ea EA Play Pro a € 15 per month. The EA Desktop service will offer faster downloads and updates, for an instant access to video games and one cross-platform connection with your friends. EA Vice President Michael Bank also promises a more user-friendly in-app navigability with fewer clicks.
It's still unclear when Origin's service will end or when this transition to EA Desktop will take place, but we reassure readers: Origin members will retain the licenses of video games already owned, as well as friend lists.
