If all in all video games are doing well in this disastrous 2020, it is still not a good year for many other sectors, such as that of movies. There are many delays and referrals that are hitting the cinematic world, and this time it also touches the expected movies in Mortal Kombat, famous fighting video game.
The Mortal Kombat live-action was expected in January 2021, but COVID-19 has slowed its production and now not only is the release window completely skipped, but there isn't even a new scheduled release period.
Todd Garner, co-producer of the film, reports in a tweet that the pandemic has affected the ability of the cast and crew to take several shots necessary to complete the film. Warner Bros. itself, the publishing house that owns the rights to the film, does not want to publicly release trailers or teasers yet, as it is still on hold to understand when reschedule shooting and launch date.
The Mortal Kombat film is directed by Simon McQuoid, on his debut in the world of blockbusters of cinema. The cast of actors brings together martial arts experts and professional stunt performers, and promises to be a "bone-breaking" experience that will mirror the cruel and bloody reputation of the game.
We do not yet know the details of the plot of the film, but we all hope that the characters that made Mortal Kombat an iconic video game, such as Sub-Zero, Scorpion and Jax, appear.
