Lone Survivor is a skilful mix of exploration and solving of find-item / use-item puzzles, with sporadic battles with monsters, which are most often avoided given the scarcity of gun ammunition. You can hide in dark crevices, distract creatures with raw meat or scare them off by firing signal flares. The general mood, between the soundtrack and a sense of restlessness, is the closest to Silent Hill you can find.

Home Sweet Home

2017 video game considered by many to be the "Thai Silent Hill". Despite some gameplay gaps, such as stealth phases that are a little too inflated and an often lackluster AI, Home Sweet Home is a great solution for those who still want Silent Hill, thanks to its dreamlike / disturbing atmosphere able to make the player feel in constant danger and to make him feel an overwhelming sense of claustrophobia. The protagonist of the story wakes up in a house that he does not recognize, with walls stained with blood and a demon armed with a cutter that hunts him. The game is divided into two distinct parts: one for exploration and solving puzzles, the other for escape from enemies, in fact, as usual in the latest productions of the genre, you cannot defend yourself. As for the puzzles, it should be emphasized that some of them are procedural, therefore impossible to solve by peeking over the internet.

Face care

First person psychological horror in which the player must explore a house full of mysteries. Visage offers a game structure very dear to games like Layers of Fear, that is, in constant change, trying to confuse the player with perspective games and sudden environmental changes. The player moves from very familiar and reassuring environments to nightmare scenarios, in which sinister shadows draw horrible creatures and reality becomes very dangerous for one's sanity. The player's progress leads him to visit dark corridors at the end of which any aberration could hide, especially for an unstable mind, and rooms where time seems to have stopped at frightening events. The house that acts as the main setting of Visage was in fact the scene of terrifying events.

Silver Chains

Closer to the mechanics of Resident Evil 7 and Remothered: Tormented Fathers, Silver Chains is still a viable alternative to the horrors of the silent hill. The labyrinthine mansion full of secret rooms, doors to open, puzzles to solve, some of which are not trivial, and the presence of a villain as insistent as it is disturbing in his way of chasing us, make Silver Chains an excellent horror title. to play on Halloween and that can also be appreciated by those who would like a new chapter of Silent Hill. Then there is a huge amount of cryptic documents that will make us known, more or less, the central events of the game, which always pleases Silent Hill fans, often engaged in reading notes and notes.

Detention

Taiwanese video game set during the years of the White Terror, a period characterized by political and social repression. The protagonists are two young students who find themselves trapped in their school, Greenwood High School. This night becomes the scene of mysterious phenomena and is infested by Wangliang, malevolent spirits of Chinese folklore. Detention features graphics in two dimensions and leads the player into a dying and dangerous world, not only for the presence of evil spirits, but also for what men were able to do in those years. Detention is therefore not a simple survival horror, but a real manifesto against the horrors of mankind. The atmosphere is very similar to that of Silent Hill and Forbidden Siren, making this game a real must.

White Day: A Labyrinth Named School

White Day is also set in a school, but is developed in three dimensions. The protagonist, on the evening of White Day (an oriental party similar to our Valentine's Day), sneaks into the school he attends to return the diary to a girl he has fallen in love with and also leave her a sweet. The idyllic scene turns into a nightmare, in fact, the school at night becomes a prison from which escape is almost impossible. In fact, four other girls are also trapped inside the structure and the way to salvation is that only one of them can return home. White Day offers a system of dialogue options that change the course of the story and, consequently, affect the endings that can be unlocked. The boys become prey to evil spirits who draw on folklore and mythology, each with a terrifying story behind it. A very good title, not a masterpiece, however suitable for those who still want Silent Hill and are able to settle for it.
