Fenyx Rising Immortals is an open world title by Ubisoft expected for this December that will catapult the player into a Hellenic world full of legends and beasts of Greek mythology.
Initially presented as Gods & Monsters during E3 2019, it was re-proposed during the Ubisoft Forward of September 2020 with his new name, as well as with a new art-style and a new kind of gameplay. But how come this change of identity? Beyond the official sources, there are also rumors based on credible documents of a dispute with the company Monster Energy.
Ubisoft's words in an interview with VGC last week stated that the Gods & Monsters name change was necessary to follow theevolution of the game vision.
When starting a game it is always an adventure and it is a very iterative process. So it starts with a vision that you evolve man mano that is created with the team and you get other feedback and other ideas. […] After that, the game has changed a lot, to the point where we felt the need for a new name to better align with that updated vision, and that's where we decided to make the move to Immortals Fenyx Rising.
In opposition to what has been clarified by Ubisoft, however, insistent rumors about one come forward controversy with Monster energy drinks. To give rise to these rumors there is above all the YouTube channel Hoeg Law specialized precisely on legislative issues. According to the video below, the Gods & Monsters brand came into conflict with the Monster Energy company in the month of April 2020.
Hoeg Law tried to reconstruct the legal history of the brand. The patent was filed in June 2019, but met no resistance until January 2020, when Monster Energy has sent a notice of dispute a Ubisoft.
Although this is a dispute over a name applied to two very different products, Monster Energy in the document is concerned about the confusion that could arise given the company's inclusion in the video game and eSports industry. Ubisoft's response came in May, where the company opposed every dispute made by Monster.
Still, Gods & Monster officially became Immortals Fenyx Rising this September. The name changed for the renewed game vision or for avoid a legal dispute with Monster Energy? We will probably never find out the truth, but we remind you that the game will be launched on December 3 2020 su Google Stadia, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series X e S, e Nintendo Switch.
