After more than twenty years of history, Pro Evolution Soccer is about to change its name again. The franchise, born with the name of Winning Eleven for Japan e International Superstar Soccer (ISS Pro) for the West, it turned into today's PES discipline in 2001, but Konami is ready to rename the football series once again.
The name change of PES is part of the process of modernization of the entire saga that Konami has been making since the last edition. The latest PES is not from the 2021 edition as the tradition of annual sports games dictates, but PES 2020. For the 2021 season only one was implemented season update of the 2020 edition.
According to Footyheadlines, a website that deals with the world of football, it has found a patent that has appeared in Argentina and Brazil in which a new logo is shown, called eFootball. The word would be already appeared in the PES 2020 logo, but this time it would become the official title.
The name eFootball would therefore refer to a total change in the concept of PES, a transition that began already with the PES 2020 season update and with Konami's push towards a segment always più eSportivo. At this point eFootball is expected to become one new base for the football series of Konami, and there are already those who are talking about revolutionizing the game. The simple update of the squads made by the 2021 season update would have granted more time to developers of Konami to the realization of the next new episode. Konami last July had already released a video showing it an amazing photorealistic model of Lionel Messi, developed on Unreal Engine.
While the world of football is still digesting the Super League affair, in the world of football video games it continues litigation for rights. Konami would have already acquired the exclusivity on important licenses; in Italy, for example, he has in hand the rights of Juventus and Roma, and would have signed an avant-garde agreement with Naples which led to calling the sports center of the Neapolitan team Konami Center. From Castelvolturno to Castlevania is a moment ...
In the meantime, we are waiting for the new PES, or the new eFootball, to finally be presented to the public by Konami in the near future.
