PewDiePie against T-Series, the challenge between the two YouTube giants

An endless challenge between two giants entertainment is about to end. On the one hand PewDiePie, we do not think he needs performance: a Swedish boy named Felix Kjellberg who since 2013 holds the record of youtuber with the most subscribers in the world. On the other hand, T-Series, an Indian entertainment company that hosts soundtracks and clips of Bollywhoodian films on its YouTube channel.

The Indian "threat" is being fought by catchphrases

If until some time ago PewDiePie reigned supreme, now its hegemony is threatened right from T-Series. Both channels have reached altitude 83 million members and the difference, just in these days, has become practically irrelevant: about 40.000 members. As an answer, in the last few months, catchphrases and parodies have been born from Felix himself, which have become very viral and in turn reworked by other youtubers and memers. The most famous is “bitch lasagna” and you can hear it below.

T-Series is a symptom of the homogeneous spread of the internet all over the world

But where does the Indian threat come from? In short, why all these T-Series members in such a short time? The answer is very simple: the internet is a means of communication more and more common in the world, even in developing countries like India, where the arrival of new infrastructures its diffusion is contributing. Considering that the population of India exceeds one billion, it is not surprising that T-Series, which we can consider the equivalent of the YouTube channel of a local television station, has quickly reached 83 million.

The "challenge" is not limited to memes, hackers are also involved

Many Pew fans have taken this fight to heart, perhaps too much: some hackers have even gone so far as to compromise the surveillance cameras Nest Cam and chromecast forcing many users to subscribe to the Swedish boy's channel. All this will be useless: the exponential growth of the T-Series channel will result sooner or later the inevitable overtaking.

PewDiePie will still remain the influencer with the most subscribers

The nature of this challenge itself is quite trivial given that, once overtaken by the T-Series, Pew however, the influencer with the most subscribers on the platform will remain. However, the T-Series victory demonstrates once again how YouTube, from a platform created to give space to creators, has now transformed into a tool for large companies.

However, from this story, it seems that PewDiePie has had only positive feedback: starting from October 2018 its channel has seen an increase of approximately 13 million subscribers. In the stream below you can follow the outcome of this challenge in real time.
