In a new PlayStation Blog post, Sony shared some interesting information on which ones accessories e peripherals they will work on PlayStation 5:
- Special peripherals, such as officially licensed racing wheels, arcade sticks and flight peripherals, will work with supported PS5 games and PS4 games.
- The Platinum and Gold wireless headphones, and those third parties that connect via USB port or audio jack, will work on PS5 (the headphone app will not be compatible with PS5).
- The DualShock 4 wireless controller and officially licensed third-party PlayStation controllers will work with supported PS4 games.
- Both PS Move motion controllers and PlayStation VR aim controller will work with supported PS VR games on PS5.
However, Sony was keen to point out that "Some officially licensed PlayStation or third party peripherals / accessories may not work on PS5".
Also, while it has already been confirmed that the controller DualShock 4 will work with supported PS4 games, the Japanese company stated that it will not be compatible with any PS5 specific game:
"We believe PS5 games should take advantage of the new capabilities and features we are bringing to the platform, including those of the DualSense wireless controller."
The last accessory they shared more compatibility information on was the Playstation Camera:
“PlayStation Camera will work with PS5 to play supported PS VR games. It will require a PlayStation Camera adapter which will be provided at no additional cost to PS VR users. More details on how to get the adapter will be announced at a later time. "
Overall, this is very good news as it is the vast majority of existing accessories can be used on both generations. While waiting to find out more about the launch date and official price, we remind you that the console will be available by the holiday season 2020.
