The new structure of Lucasfilm Games seems to be pressing harder on the accelerator by delegating more and more old and new titles from Lucas' legacy to as many publishers as possible. This time it's up to Aspyr Media, already in charge of bringing the two back last year Jedi Knight e Epsidoe 1: Racer. Thanks to her, Star Wars Republic Commando is now coming to PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.
Released a long time ago in 2005, Star Wars Republic Commando was one first person shooter based heavily on tactics, set during the narrative period of Clone War. The title takes the player into battle on Genosis, the planet where the production of droid armies at the hands of Count Dooku began.
The player will play the clone RC-1338, a militiaman of the Delta Squad, a special unit of clones, better known as "Boss", and will be accompanied by three others Commando. The game, like many of the titles released prior to Disney's acquisition of the Star Wars universe, is no longer part of the canonical Star Wars universe, but Delta Squad has already appeared in the new timeline, most notably in the TV series The Clone Wars. Clones Commando were also used in Star Wars: Battlefront 2 of EA Games, the company that until now had been the sole owner of the rights to exploit Star Wars.
As we have already mentioned, it is a period of renewal for brands under the wing of Lucasfilm Games. We recently learned that other IPs are in production, like one Star Wars open world in collaboration with Ubisoft and a new game of Indiana Jones in partnership with Bethesda. We have tried to give our specs on both projects in this article and we tried to reconstruct Indiana Jones' path in the world of video games through this digression.
Who knows what else awaits us from the future of Lucasfilm. In the meantime, you can already pre-order Star Wars Republic Commando on Nintendo Switch e PlayStation 4, playable from April 6 2021.
