The head of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Jim Ryan, stated that He "can't wait" to find out if Bethesda titles like Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 will be released on PS5.
Speaking with the Russian news agency TASS, the executive said the decision is out of his control after Microsoft acquired Bethesda's parent company, the ZeniMax Media, for an amount of $ 7,5 billion in September.
“It's a decision that's not up to us, we'll wait and see what happens,” said Ryan. "I can't wait to find out more. We just take a different approach. We have focused on truly steady, slow but steady organic growth of our studies, selectively supported by acquisitions. We respect the steps our competition has taken, they seem logical and reasonable. But we are just as happy and confident, we have one better launch lineup than we've ever had in one of our console launches".
Microsoft has remained rather "taciturn" about the fate of Bethesda on other platforms. Last month, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said the company's goal it is not to take away the games from other players, while a few weeks ago Todd Howard (Bethesda) limited himself to saying that it would be "difficult" to see TES VI as an Xbox exclusive.
What emerges is therefore how Microsoft's move was successful to crowd out the competition, keeping the most absolute secrecy on the modalities that over the weeks really seems to be characterized as one of the most sensational operations in recent years.
In the meantime, see you at the next episode.
