Asus Rog Strix fusion 700
Audiophiles and Gamers, what I will review today is a high-end product, if you are looking for cheap headphones, I refer you to the tech section to find other headphones that can do for you.
Asus with its Rog series has opened the ears to the needs of gamers who have been asking for greater audio immersion in their games for some years now.
Play your favorite soundtrack and let's get started with the review!
Packaging
Once the package is unwrapped, I find myself in front of a package with attention to the smallest details: opening the box like a fan, I find a panel with a greeting and a standard phrase so dear to gamers written on it.
Going deeper we find the headset embraced by foam rubber covered with soft velvet.
At first glance, Asus leaves me happily surprised: if they wanted to convey the “premium” feeling I would say that they succeeded from the first glance at the packaging.
Content
In the box we find:
- A USB cable;
- A guide;
- A carrying bag;
- ROG Hybrid Replacement Pavilions;
Ergonomics, Design and Functions
Speaking of Ergonomic spaces and furniture I would like to describe the product with only one adjective: comfortable.
Seriously. I have used them for at least four hours a day for the past 30 days, I have never had the sense of fatigue of the lobes typical of large earphones.
The ear cups don't press too hard on the glasses and the adjustment hinges are solid and hold the chosen size for weeks without adjusting them again.
Il design it's not bad, it's not my thing (I'm a lover of minimal peripherals) but it will certainly be appreciated by gamers looking for a device that is in step with the times.
The AURA RGB synchronization via software has some really nice effects (I talk about it in the review of the Asus ROG Claymore and Asus ROG Pugio) and is never too “tacky”.
Speaking of functions we find on the sides two buttons, one for the activation of Surround 7.1 and the other for Bluetooth.
On the other hand, the plate on the left side is very useful, which allows you to forward or backward the track, change the synchronization aura rgb or "trivially" raise or lower the volume through gestures.
Well done.
Performance and Sound In Game
I know you are here mainly for this.
The audio is clear, crystal clear and natural. The capsule works well with both the highs and the mids, the lows are slightly washed out, in game I never felt that bad feeling of daze due to the exaggerated bass. They are best equalized for prolonged gaming sessions without omitting the ability to understand well and clearly the sound of footsteps of a nearby enemy.
The digital / analog converter works very well and the audio quality is perceived even with low quality files, for example below 96kHz. Good job.
In flawless gaming, I recommend you try them if you find them in your trusted store.
Surround 7.1
The difference between Stereo and 7.1 Surround audio can be heard in games, especially when the audio is not horizontal but vertical. For example, if we are playing Overwatch and one passes us Pharaoh fluttering above us we immediately notice its position, the audio will be heard distinctly even in the vertical plane.
The noises and the reverberation of the larger spaces will be clearly perceived, making us participate in aspects that the sound designers of the games study for days but alas many times they are not really perceived.
The surround, however, is not perfect and in fact, to date, the 7.1 immersive technology does not give us a full contribution to the front and rear spatiality. I am confident for the future as technology is making great strides in this field as well.
Performance and Sound for home use and Music
Let's move on to home use. These headphones are razor sharp, the audio is crystal clear and I can hear every slightest nuance. Almost on par with some audiophile headphones I've had in the past.
As a benchmark for these earphones I have three pieces ripped in Flac from my collection:
Korn – Got the Life: The bass does not excite me, the rest is flawless.
Genesis – Firth Of Fifth: Peter Gabriel has a clear and crystalline voice, his singing stands out both in the highs and in the mids, Hackett's guitar is saturated, harmonious: it feels good from the first to the last note. Spectacular.
Pendulum – Witchcraft: As a last benchmark, let's change genre. The sound is full of highs and mids, the bass "does not break your ears", they sound better than in Got the Life and give the right feeling of charge. With the Drum'n Bass the headphones give their best for clean sound.
