What's new
Let's start with the first positive aspect of this content: it's free. In a videogame world characterized by the increasingly massive presence of paid DLC, Season Pass and microtransactions, being able to put your hand on free additional content is undoubtedly good news despite this, it must be specified, it should be the norm and not the exception. Battle of Jakku expands the experience and of Star Wars: Battlefront and it does so mainly through the introduction of a new game mode: Turning Point.
This mode puts 40 players (20 vs 20) onto the battlefield in the world of planet Jakku. The rebels will have to try to conquer ground by occupying the enemy outposts while the imperial troops will have to repel the assaults. Within a time limit, the rebels will be able to advance to the last point of conquest to try to obtain victory. This is, broadly speaking, what Turning Point offers: the game map is decidedly wide, as already seen in other modes such as Assault of the walkers and different from the other views so far. In a large expanse of sand and dunes, debris will in fact be the only possible shelters within which to ambush and ambush. From what we learned during the first hours of the game, the balance seems to be slightly in favor of the imperial troops: conquering the last outpost in fact, as long as they can get there, for the rebels will be anything but simple with the strormtroopers all enclosed within a narrow and, in fact, impassable space. Even if a single player were to be able to find a hole in which to enter, resisting alone against an internal army would become extremely difficult if not impossible in a few moments. To further complicate matters, there are also respawn points, often placed too far from the nerve center of the battle. Before returning to the heart of the battle it will in fact be necessary to run for a few seconds through the sands of Jakku: these moments will seem eternal in comparison to the rhythm and the frenetic gameplay it is provided. Star Wars: Battlefront. All these elements, however, do not make the victory of the rebels impossible, mind you. In order to achieve success, it will be essential to make the best possible use of the upgrades, such as protective shields, and of the area forces with which to defeat the opponents. That said, Turn Point is a good mode, thanks also to the new map that allows you to adopt different strategies and offensives than in the past.
Jakku everywhere
The news of the Battle of Jakku it is not reduced only to the modality that we have analyzed in the previous lines. The DLC also introduces two new maps that will be inserted in rotation in those already present for the title: in this way it is possible to experience the "Tomba de Giganti" map for the great modes for 40 players, such as Supremacy, Assault on Walkers and Squadron of Hunt while the Goazan Expanses map will be available for use in Elimination, Drop Zone, Droid Rush, Cargo, Hero Hunt, and Heroes vs. Villains modes. As already highlighted for Punto di Turn, the real novelty of the DLC, these maps can offer a different style of play, with different points with which to support and thus be able to adopt a different strategy and retaliation, until the two factions do not they will mingle giving life again to that frenetic gameplay typical of Star Wars: Battlefront. The fact of introducing a new game map still manages to give a new wave of freshness to the DICE title with the hope that this will not remain the only content distributed in free mode.
Final comments
Turning Point is an interesting and very pleasant and compelling mode, even if there are some perplexities related to balance and respawn points. The new maps instead give new verve to the title. Battle of Jakku is a decent DLC that, certainly not to be forgotten, is available for free for all players.
